Jeans
Jeans are one of the most versatile garments we can have in our closet. They come in all shapes and sizes: skinny, flared, boyfriend jeans, high-rise, mid-rise, stretch, or rigid. They're a garment that's part of our everyday life and makes us look unique and comfortable.
At Catalog Sale, we love jeans, and they're our signature item of clothing. That's why we decided to dedicate this space to learning what's behind these jeans you love so much. Today we're going to talk about the history of jeans.
This is how jeans were born, but they weren't perfect yet. Since jeans had to be worn with a lot of weight, they were still copied. Miners would go to tailor Jacob Strauss, who would buy rolls of denim from Levi's to repair ripped jeans.
Tired of making these repairs, he came up with the idea of using copper rivets at certain stress points, such as the ends of pockets and the base of the zipper.
Jacobs didn't have the resources to bring the idea to reality, so he proposed to Levi that they develop the idea together. They decided to patent the idea, and thus the jean as we know it was born.
